An outstanding first half display from the Wandies, which saw them score six tries, helped them sail to a comfortable victory at Grange Road.
Wanderers dominated the opening ten minutes with three tries inside five minutes tearing through Cambridge’s defence.
Marshall opened the scoring, before a great run from Stephenson doubled the score in the seventh minute.
Rory Hutchinson started the first half fantastically and led a great charge to send the Wandies up to 19-0, with Grayson putting the conversion just wide.
The Wanderers continued to push and could have scored more tries inside the opening quarter, but some misplaced passing prevented any further damage to Cambridge’s scoreline.
Tom Wood was next to score 15 minutes in in the corner, before scrum-half Mitchell added to the points tally to take Wanderers up to 33-0.
Ken Pisi showed a fantastic display of pace and footwork and dazzled the Cambridge defences on several occasions in the back of the first half, and set up Wood for his second try of the night.
Cambridge were much improved in the second quarter however, and managed to test the Wandies defence in their own half, but couldn’t convert any chances into points.
The Light Blues opened the second half very well with much more open play creating various chances from them, before conceding a penalty try in the 50th minute.
Cambridge were finally rewarded however as Koster set up skipper Charlie Amesbury to capitalise on a Wanderers error to a rapturous reception from the home supporters.
They went very close again on the hour mark only to fall just short at the try line as the ball rolled out of play from a punt kick, leaving the Wandies defence momentarily stunned.
Momentum began to swing back in the direction of the Wandies as they broke free from the Cambridge defence, only for a forward pass to disallow the try.
A huge hand-off from Moon gifted Wanderers their eighth try of the night, before Grayson scored his fifth conversion of the game from a tricky position on the edge of the field.
Wanderers scored the final points of the night with one final try for Clare to take the final score to 7-59; an impressive victory for the Wanderers.
They take on Newcastle Falcons at the Gardens next on October 23.
