James Ramm of Northampton Saints

Disciplinary Update: James Ramm

James Ramm has been suspended for two matches following an independent disciplinary hearing.

The winger was shown a 20-minute red card by referee, Andrea Piardi, in the 48th minute of Northampton Saints’ opening Investec Champions Cup clash with Section Paloise last Sunday.

Ramm was shown the red card for tackling, charging, pulling, pushing, or grasping the jumper in the air, contrary to World Rugby Law 9.17.

Ramm accepted that he had committed an act of foul play that warranted a red card.

The independent Disciplinary Committee determined that the player was guilty of a reckless act and upheld the red card. It was then decided that the offending was at the low end of World Rugby’s sanctions, and four weeks was selected as the appropriate entry point.

Taking into account the player’s good disciplinary record and his timely acceptance of the charge, as well as his remorse and apology to Pau’s Thomas Jolmes, the Committee decided to reduce the sanction by the maximum of 50%, before imposing a two-week suspension.

Matches missed:
14.12.2025 v Vodacom Bulls (Investec Champions Cup)
20.12.2025 v Sale Sharks (Gallagher PREM)

Ramm is free to play on Monday, 22 December. Both the player and EPCR have the right to appeal the decision.
