The Saints’ new signing Juan Pablo Estelles says that he is happy to be in Northampton and that he is keen to learn from both his team mates and his coaches at Franklin’s Gardens.

Estelles arrived in Northampton on Tuesday following his appearances for Argentina’s rugby sevens team at the Olympics in Rio, and he is keen to make the most of his time at the Gardens.

Speaking to SaintsTV, Estelles said: “Everyone here has been very nice and very helpful.

“I’m most looking forward to learning from my team mates and coaches and really getting the most from this experience and playing at the highest level. I’m very happy to be here in Northampton.”

Now an Olympian, Estelles also spoke fondly of his time in Rio and said that he really enjoyed the experience of living in the Olympic Village with a host of famous athletes.

“It was a great experience. We trained a lot for that opportunity and when we actually arrived we were very prepared and focussed on what we had to do.

“Of course, living in the village was great and when you are walking around you see people like Novak Djokovic training on the tennis court. Things like that are the best parts of the Olympics!

“I met Rafael Nadal and Tony Parker (French basketball player) and many other athletes, but I couldn’t see Usain Bolt; I think he was in his room and didn’t go out a lot!”

Away from the rugby pitch, Estelles went on to say that he is also really looking forward to getting to know Northampton and the surrounding areas.

“Most of all, I’m looking forward to getting to know the people and the place and really enjoy being in this excellent town. Hopefully I can get around comfortably without getting lost in my car!
