First three players named on Steffans Player of the Month shortlist

The Saints had a promising September, with three wins from their four Aviva Premiership matches. All three were achieved with a try-scoring bonus point, while the sole loss was within seven points.

Plenty of players had strong performances, but the three shortlisted have stood out in particular.

Fisher’s first month in black, green and gold will live long in the memory. The flanker took his impressive summer form into the regular season in both attack and defence, carrying the ball 31 times for 95 metres, beating half-a-dozen defenders and making 89 percent of his tackles. Fisher also marked his debut by scoring a try in the Aviva Premiership Round 1 win over Gloucester.

Manoa has spent September at number eight, and after setting out his stall with a thunderous tackle on Billy Twelvetrees the American has continued where he left off last season. In all he carried the ball 37 times in his four appearances, making 116 metres in the process, beating five defenders and offloading the ball seven times.

Pisi is one of only three players to have played every minute of the Saints’ opening four matches. The Samoan has been quietly effective on the right wing, making 164 metres from 31 carries and proving a threat whether with ball in hand or chasing kicks. Pisi also scored his first try of the season in the away win at Newcastle Falcons.

Although the shortlist is decided by the Saints’ coaches, the final decision comes down to the club’s supporters, who can now vote at www.northamptonsaints.co.uk/steffans

Voting will remain open until 5pm on Friday, October 10th. Everyone who votes will also have their name automatically put into the hat to win a £50 voucher for Steffans Northampton.

The Steffans Player of the Month winner will take home a TW Steel watch.
