Front rowers take home Steffans Player and Clubman of the Month awards

The 23-year-old loosehead prop passed the 100-appearance mark during November, and continued to enhance his already burgeoning reputation with a series of powerful performances in the set piece and in the loose.

Waller’s award means that the Saints forwards continue their dominance of the Steffans Player of the Month so far in 2013/14, with the Senior Academy graduate following in the footsteps of Sam Dickinson and Samu Manoa in taking home the TW Steel watch.

The November TW Steel Clubman of the Month is Dylan Hartley, who was chosen for the award by the club’s coaching staff. The club skipper rightly earned himself reams of headlines for his charity work during the month, not least spearheading the Front Mo Union’s campaign to raise over £47,000 for Movember.

Players, staff and supporters alike signed up to the Front Mo Union, which ended up with 277 members, and the uniting effect helped galvanise the club, according to director of rugby Jim Mallinder.

“November was an interesting month for us, with over a dozen players on international duty and more having some well earned time off during the LV= Cup,” he said. “At times like that it can be difficult to maintain cohesiveness, but Dylan took it upon himself to use the Movember campaign to give everyone something to unite around.

“All of the players and staff got behind the Front Mo Union, as did the supporters, and its success is reflected in both the £47,000 that was raised but also the unbeaten month that we enjoyed.

“Dylan thoroughly deserves his Clubman of the Month award.”

Both Alex Waller and Dylan Hartley will be at Steffans Northampton to collect their prizes at 2pm on Wednesday, December 18th.

The club also announced that Helen Mainprize, who was one of the hundreds and hundreds of supporters who cast their vote in November, has won the £50 voucher for Steffans Northampton.
