On Friday night Moseley headed to Cornwall to play the Pirates in Penzance. Scrum-half Alex Day and prop Tom Warren both started the game at the Mennaye Field, with prop Adam Parkins and fly half Will Hooley coming off the bench.
The game marked Hooley's first action since the JP Morgan Asset Management Premiership Rugby Sevens Series, but despite Moseley fighting back from a 15-3 half-time deficit they could not make the most of the Pirates losing two to the sin bin.
Instead a late converted try and a penalty sealed a 28-13 win for the Pirates.
Moseley's Championship campaign has yet to spark into life, something that could not be said about Coventry, who headed to Blaydon seeking a club record fifth consecutive win.
Junior World Champion prop Danny Hobbs-Awoyemi made the trip to the north east as part of Coventry's starting line-up, but while the visitors enjoyed an abundance of possession and took the lead early in the second half it was Blaydon who dominated the scoring for the remainder of the game.
The hosts scored three tries in all in the 21-16 win, although Coventry did come home with a bonus point earned with a late converted try.
