Furbank: We must play our sevens A game

Saints' sevens captain George Furbank says that his side will have to be on top form on Sunday if they are to come away from Coventry with some Singha Sevens silverware.

Furbank will captain a side of young players that will head to the Ricoh Arena hoping to bring a first title of the season back to Franklin’s Gardens.

“We are a young team but one with a lot of potential,” said Furbank.

“Hopefully things will click on Sunday and we come away with some silverware.

“My role is to help everyone glue together because we have a lot of different people, some from England and some from Loughborough, so I need to let them play their A game and let them get on with it.”

The Saints face Exeter Chiefs in the quarter finals and whilst he expects Exeter to provide tough opposition, Furbank believes his side can do well.

“I played Exeter’s 15s in the final of the "A" league last season and they have a lot of power and pace in their side and that will be tough to deal with.

“We just need to work on getting the ball in attack, keeping hold of it through multiple phases and building properly. If we do that, we’ll be okay.”
