Graham leads Saints as PREM Rugby Cup gets back underway

Northampton Saints return to PREM Rugby Cup action this weekend and will be led out by No.8 Sam Graham when Harlequins travel to cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens this Saturday (1 November, kick-off: 5.30pm).

The men in Black, Green and Gold are unbeaten in this season’s Cup competititon (having defeated Saracens 34-49 at the StoneX Stadium back in September) and after a series of four consecutive wins in the league in recent weeks, will be looking to extend that run.

Saints’ young side – the starting XV has an average age of just 22.8 – prepare to take on a Quins outfit who are without a win in the Cup to date, having fallen to Newcastle Red Bulls and Leicester Tigers in the competition’s opening rounds.

Graham captains Northampton at cinch Stadium, while three Saints are set to make their debuts in the starting XV – with Oliver Scola and Marco Manfredi making their bows in the front row, and Tom Rowe running out for the first time on Saints’ wing.

James Pater makes his first appearance in a Saints shirt since making his senior debut as a 17-year-old last season as he starts at fullback, while former Scotland Under-20s international Amena Caqusau and debutant Rowe complete the back three.

Toby Thame and Henry Lumley – who became Saints’ youngest player of the professional era aged just 17 years and 317 days when he debuted alongside Pater last season – are selected together in the centres for Northampton.

A third appearance of the term awaits England Under-20s scrum-half Jonny Weimann as he partners in-form fly-half Anthony Belleau in Saints’ half-backs for the visit of Quins.

Luke Green makes his first start of the season at tighthead prop alongside debutants Scola and Manfredi, who feature at loosehead prop and hooker respectively.

Ed Prowse returns to Saints’ second row to make his fifth appearance of the term, and he is joined by fellow lock Chunya Munga who runs out for the first time this season on Saturday.

Archie Benson and Fyn Brown are named as flankers for the men in Black, Green and Gold, where they join skipper and No.8 Graham in the back row at cinch Stadium.

Tom West and Tom James recover from their respective injuries to earn their spots on Saints’ bench and will make their first appearances of the term should they enter the action, while there are also potential Club debuts for Aiden Ainsworth-Cave and Loughborough University loanee James Bennett amongst the replacements.

Tickets for Saints vs Harlequins are still available – with prices* starting from £23* adults / £7* child HERE.
