Hanrahan excited about Northampton move

The fly half is moving to the East Midlands this summer on a high note, after helping Emerging Ireland win the Tibilisi Cup in Georgia last weekend.

And while he is not underestimating the challenge facing him in getting into the Saints’ starting lineup he is relishing the opportunity of playing in the Aviva Premiership.

“You can see the way the Aviva Premiership is going with the players coming in and teams getting stronger,” Hanrahan told The Rugby Paper. “The competition is getting so strong every week, even when the international players are away.

“So I’m excited to test myself at that level and see if I am able to develop.

“I’m excited and nervous. I’ve spent all my life in and around Kerry and Limerick. It’s where my friends and family are and all I know. But a massive reason for going is to experience something new. It’s a new club, culture and competition.

“It will be a big learning curve for me but it will be a great way to improve my game and become a better player.”
