Hutchinson in line for second Scotland cap

After claiming his first international cap last weekend against France, Northampton Saints' centre Rory Hutchinson is in line to make his second Scotland appearance and home debut in this Saturday's rematch in Edinburgh.

Following a disappointing 32-3 defeat to France, head coach Gregor Townsend has switched up his squad for the second of Scotland's warm-up matches ahead of the 2019 Rugby World Cup, bringing in more experience, as the side take on Les Bleus for the second week running.

But Hutchinson - who debuted from the bench last weekend - has retained his place among the replacements after the 23-year-old impressed despite Scotland's opening loss.

Townsend, said: “Our first outing of the season was a disappointment and not reflective of the hard work our players have put in over the past two months.

"France are a very dangerous side if you give them space and quick ball to play, which is what we allowed to happen on too many occasions last week. Our focus all week has been to remedy this and also create much more from our attacking game.

“It was a stark reminder of how tough things can be at international level if our standards slip. We expect our players to show a much truer picture of themselves this Saturday."
