Collecting their second home win of the season last night with a bonus point win over the guests Bath, Saints have boosted themselves up to within the current top four of the Aviva Premiership table ahead of the rest of this weekend's action.
In his Man-of-the-Match performances, David Ribbans ran in two of Saints' four tries as the side backed up their all-important win over Leicester Tigers last weekend with a resounding 24-6 victory over the previously unbeaten Bath.
The 21-year-old lock spoke to SaintsTV live on Facebook after the game and said:
"Last weekend was a great performance but we needed to do the same this week. A bonus point win at home though, what more can you ask for?"
Despite the Saints getting on the scoreboard early on through skipper for the night Courtney Lawes, the game at the Gardens was something of a slow burner in the first half. But Saints lit the touch paper just before the turnaround with the first of Ribbans' two.
He said that though any score is important, going into the break with the added momentum was what drove Saints to come out firing in the second half.
"I think every try is important but obviously it was great to score right at the end of the first half. We came back with a bit of confidence but we knew they were going to come flying at us in that second half."
Saints managed not only to keep their guests, Bath, scoreless in the second 40 but also to keep them from crossing the whitewash, despite Bath's danger men looking fierce in attack at times, while adding two more scores of their own for the all-important try bonus point.
Ribbans said that defensive effort was very pleasing for the whole squad as they look ahead to the rest of the season.
"It's huge for our defence and our confidence, stopping them scoring a try out there tonight was terrific. It give us huge confidence going forward with the rest of the season.
"Their forward pack is unbelievable and they have some great backs also, it was definitely something we worked on really hard this week and I think that really showed tonight. The boys put in some great hits.
"It's just great to be playing, and having my first game at home. I'm just super psyched with the bonus point win."
The powerful young lock said that it was important for the side to be able to take the performances of the last two weeks and turn those into some good away form as they make the trip to London Irish next weekend.
"That's the biggest thing we need to do. We need to take these performances into London Irish away, we can't just do it at home. The boys will be working hard next week because we've got to do the same away from home now against London Irish.
"We'll be having a little bit of time off this weekend to enjoy our win but come Monday we'll be back into looking at ourselves and at London Irish and what we can do going forwards into that game."
Ribbans also credited the Franklin's Faithful as the Saints took their win in front of a vocal crowd last night.
"It's just unbelievable," Ribbans said of the atmosphere at the Gardens.
"It's just so loud when the fans are singing and cheering. It means so much to the players, it's just awesome."
