Northampton Saints and Church’s Footwear Company have today announced a five-year extension to their Elite Sponsorship agreement.
Two of the town’s iconic brands, the Saints and Church’s Footwear dominate the landscape in west Northampton, with the footwear company having its factory just a few hundred metres from the club’s home on Weedon Road, a location it has occupied for 60 years.
The Church’s footwear brand has been a familiar sight at Franklin’s Gardens for several decades, as an advertiser, on the shirt for both the European Cup win of 2000 and on the team’s recent Cup shirts, and as the title sponsor of the West Stand since it was built in the summer of 2002.
The Church’s Stand name remains as part of the new Elite Sponsorship deal, along with the Church’s logo on the back of the Saints’ cup shirts worn in the European Rugby Champions Cup and Anglo-Welsh Cup.
“The relationship with Church’s goes back for many years and we’re delighted that this will continue for at least another five years,” said Saints chief executive Mark Darbon. “Church’s has been a significant partner for us, and the Church’s Stand name is well known both in the Premiership and further afield through the global TV coverage that the Premiership and Champions Cup receive. The Saints squad are all very happy to be wearing Church’s shoes on match days."
Church’s has a global presence, with retail stores in Europe, the USA and Asia, wholesale distribution through the world, and is a part of the Prada Group of companies.
Anthony Romano, Church’s footwear chief executive, added: “We are very proud to be an Elite Sponsor of the Saints and are looking forward to further developing this long standing relationship with the team over the next five years. We wish the team all the best for the upcoming season."
