Saints-bound duo star as Lions go one up

Commentators at Suncorp Stadium wasted no time in hailing North's 60-metre stunner as one of the best in the Lions' long and prestigious history - even those in Australia!

Paul Cully of the Sydney Morning Herald said of North: "[he] inhabits a world distinct from the rest of us, in which he can transfer deeds that normally only occur in the imagination to the sporting arena," while the Western Mail, having already lauded his "freakish athleticism" were similarly forthcoming in their praise.

"Sometimes, a Lions tour brings the best out of players," Delme Parfitt commented. "Rather than be cowed by the magnitude of it all, they thrive under a more intense spotlight. Add North to that bracket after this. It's mind-boggling to think of the lofty perch he may occupy in the game if he replicates this sort of stuff in the remaining two Tests."

The Welsh wing may have hogged the headlines, but up front Alex Corbisiero was busy justifying his selection in the number one shirt. His powerful in the scrum and in the loose - the England loose head made more metres than any other forward - led Telegraph rugby correspondant Mick Cleary to sit the prop alongside Paul O'Connell as the best performing forward in Brisbane.

The only place you can see the impressive duo in 2013/14, of course, will be at Franklin's Gardens as North and Corbisiero become Saints. Do so with a Season Ticket, bookable online and with spread payment plans still available until the start of the season. What's more, recommend some friends at the same time and you could claim back anything from £10 up to the full price of your Season Ticket!
