Saints Community team return to Lisbon this summer!

Northampton Saints’ Community team will return to Portugal this summer as the Club once again brings its international rugby camps to the city of Lisbon.

Coaches Matty Wainwright and Tabitha Banks will lead the three‑day programme from Wednesday 24 to Friday 26 June 2026, hosted by Grupo Desportivo de Direito (GDD) — the venue for Saints’ inaugural Portuguese camp last year.

More than 60 players took part in the 2025 edition, with several attendees going on to join Saints’ Summer Residential Camps at Stowe School.

Building on that success, the Community team will continue to support GDD’s player and coach development as the partnership deepens.

“It is fantastic to be returning to Lisbon and GDD for another camp,” said Ben Lawrence, Head of Community at Northampton Saints. “The playing level last summer was excellent, and the club are working hard to develop their players and coaches.”

The visit forms part of Saints’ long‑term commitment to supporting emerging rugby environments overseas, strengthening relationships with partner clubs and creating pathways for shared learning.

“Building on the initial relationships we form when we visit new countries is really important for us to ensure long‑lasting support and development for the clubs and communities we work with,” Lawrence added.

“GDD is a club that really leans into that, with plans to send coaches back to the UK in the summer to learn from our environments back home.”

The 2026 camp will offer young players in Lisbon high‑quality coaching, skill development, and an introduction to Saints’ performance environment — continuing a growing international connection between the two clubs.
