Travis Perkins Group takes shirt sponsorship to a new level

The Travis Perkins Group are continuing their long standing commitment to Northampton Saints next season by announcing a new shirt sponsor from within their portfolio of businesses.

The longest historical sponsorship agreement in sport between an elite sporting club and main shirt sponsor will be re-launched at the start of the 2017/18 campaign when Toolstation, one of Britain’s fastest growing suppliers of tools and supplies to both trade and domestic customers, kick off the season with their logo on the front of the Saints home and away shirts.

Toolstation, named Which? Retailer of the Year 2016, is a growing multi-channel business selling trade quality products to customers across the UK via its website, contact centre and national network of over 250 branches, including St James Trade Park in Northampton.

“This is a hugely exciting step forward for the Travis Perkins Group who are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity out to one of our growing businesses,” said John Carter, Travis Perkins’ chief executive officer. “Such is the great relationship we have with the club that we’ve been able to try something new and wish the team all the very best for the new season!”

“As a member of the Travis Perkins Group we’re very proud to be able to support Northampton Saints with their 2017 shirt sponsorship,” added John Meaden, Toolstation’s marketing director. “We have a successful track record of supporting sporting organisations so are delighted to have this opportunity to extend our relationships into rugby union with one of the country’s top teams.”

Saints’ chief executive Allan Robson says that while the logo on the front of the shirt may be changing the relationship between the club and its principal sponsor remains as strong as ever.

“We’ve had an outstanding relationship with Travis Perkins Group for many, many years, and changing the logo on the front of the shirt does not change that,” he said. “In fact introducing the Toolstation logo shows the value that the Travis Perkins Group puts on the Saints’ reach among consumers through our attendances at Franklin’s Gardens and the exposure we receive on BT Sport, ITV, and in the national media.”

The Travis Perkins Group has been the Saints’ principal sponsor since 2001, with the relationship between the Travis family and the club extending nearly 100 years.

Although the main logo on the front of the shirt is changing, the remainder of the home shirt’s design stays the same for 2017/18. The new away shirt will be officially unveiled later in the summer.
