Waller takes comfort from defence

For the second week running, and despite some heavy pressure late on from the visitors, the Saints managed to keep their tryline intact and the loosehead saw it as a crumb of comfort, not forgetting the four points.

“The one positive of the game was our defence,” Waller told SaintsTV. “I thought at times it was brilliant and especially the boys who came on from the bench did a great job.

“Our attack might have lacked at times, but if you can keep them out from scoring and take some of your chances, that’s what counts.”

That said, the England Saxon is under no illusions as to the step up in challenge in this weekend’s Aviva Premiership trip to the Rec.

“It’s a massive game,” he added. “Like us, Bath have lost a few players to England but they’ve got a big squad and plenty of depth. It’ll be a good contest and we’ll have to play a lot better than we did against Irish, I can tell you that.”

The top of the table clash kicks off at 3:15pm and is a sell-out, but you can still catch all of the action live on BT Sport or via www.saintslive.co.uk if you are on the go.
