Matavesi and Mayanavanua selected for Fiji against Wales

Northampton Saints duo Sam Matavesi and Temo Mayanavanua have both been selected in Fiji’s matchday 23 for their Rugby World Cup opener against Wales.

Hooker Matavesi, 31, starts the clash in Bordeaux on Sunday evening (kick-off 8pm BST) to earn his 27th international cap, while Mayanavanua – who joins Saints after the tournament from Lyon – will be looking to make an impact in the second row if he enters the action from amongst the replacements.

Simon Raiwalui’s side begin their campaign against Wales before facing Australia, Georgia and Portugal as they bid to reach the knock-out stages for the first time since 2007.
