Northampton Saints is looking to recruit new team members in a number of key areas, including a Head of Commercial Operations, a Sales Executive, and an Assistant Management Accountant.

HEAD OF COMMERCIAL PARTNERSHIPS

Northampton Saints is now recruiting a Head of Commercial Partnerships to maximise the value of existing commercial partnerships and develop new opportunities.

Reporting to the club's Commercial Director, the successful candidate for this new role will create and execute a strategy to maximize the value of commercial partnerships – primarily sponsorship and advertising – for Northampton Saints and, in doing so, create a step change in revenues from this income stream.

The salary for his position is competitive, with bonus and deal-related commission

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Oversee all activities as they relate to commercial partnerships at Northampton Saints 
  • Develop a long term strategy to maximize the value of the available commercial rights and benefits at the club
  • Identify and prioritise target categories and brands to proactively build a pipeline of potential commercial partners
  • Develop best in class sales materials to support the club’s go to market activities
  • Lead negotiation efforts to secure attractive deals which create value for the club and for partners
  • Ensure high quality partner servicing for existing and new partners, to support the creation of long term relationships
  • Develop and manage commercial partnership department budgets and set key KPIs and targets as appropriate
  • Compile and analyse sales figures
  • Evaluate and analyse commercial partnerships, constantly seeking ways to grow the value of such relationships
  • Oversee and manage the activities of the Commercial Partnerships Manager, offering leadership, guidance, support and feedback on an ongoing basis
  • Work effectively with the marketing and communications and operations teams, as well as the players and playing staff, to support the commercial agenda
  • Keep up to date with market research and insight
  • Perform other duties as reasonably requested in the context of the role or as directed by the Executive team.

In short, this role would suit a proven sponsorship/commercial partnerships leader, looking to take their career to the next level.

RUGBY/SPORT

  • Candidates must have a love of sport and an understanding of rugby and its environment.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role at a high performance sports club and/or rights holder would be advantageous but is not a necessity

EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate, with strong academic track record
  • Experience in a sports sponsorship sales role, with a track record of directly delivering high value deals
  • Experience in working to and achieving targets
  • Experience of working with a variety of partners, agencies and suppliers
  • Evidence of sound commercial judgment and decision making capability
  • Proven success at delivering against strategic objectives and driving revenue growth
  • Experienced in effective negotiation with sponsors other commercial entities, and in developing and maintaining strong relationships with strategic business partners and key stakeholders

  • Personal circumstances must allow the candidate to work extended hours on occasion during times of peak activity including evenings and weekends, including match days

SALES EXECUTIVE

Northampton Saints is recruiting a Sales Executive to help build business by finding both new contacts and developing existing accounts to generate income to support the club's playing effort and overall development.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Developing a good understanding of the NRFC hospitality portfolio
  • Lead generation and prospect management through intelligent and in-depth research
  • Making outbound telephone calls to existing and prospective customers
  • Presenting core inventory to existing and new customers
  • Pursuing leads to sales conversion
  • Creating and attending appointments with both new and exisiting clients
  • Handling of inbound telephone and email sales leads
  • Maintain good/strong relationships with existing customers
  • Growing and networking existing accounts
  • Meeting both annual and event specific sales targets
  • Pipeline management, with weekly reports including personal sales activity
  • Processing customer bookings
  • Desire to exceed sales and revenue targets
  • Maintaining required sales pace
  • Providing sales support across other department functions
  • Attendance at all club match days and departmental events
  • Undertake such other duties as required which are consistent with the responsibilities of the post and the needs of the club

ASSISTANT MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT

The Saints' Finance department is recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant.

This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious, engaging and proactive trainee accountant to join the finance team of one of England’s top rugby clubs.  Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will:

  • Assist with the monthly management accounts and reporting process
  • Control and reconcile specific balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare and post accounting journals, including accruals and prepayments
  • Report & present key performance indicators, event performance and sales achievements on a timely basis
  • Manage and maintain the sales ledger, including raising invoices, chasing for payments, receipt of money and monthly reporting and reconciliations
  • Improve and develop processes and policies in accounts and the wider business context
  • Assist with yearly audit and annual report preparation
  • Provide ad hoc cover to other accounts functions, including cash and banking and purchase ledger
  • Provide reporting, analysis, insight, support and advice to other functions across the business

Ideal Candidate

  • At least two years’ experience in a management accounts role
  • Degree or AAT qualified
  • Keen to study or currently working towards CIMA or ACCA accounting qualification
  • Hands-on experience of financial systems, ideally Sage 50 accounting system
  • Have a desire to challenge and develop
  • Have excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of Excel & other Microsoft packages.
  • Work well in a small team with a hands-on attitude
