ONs stun Tows for 14th straight Alliance Cup

Old Northamptonians lifted the Alliance Cup for the 14th consecutive season at Franklin's Gardens, staging an epic comeback from 26-13 against a spirited Towcestrians side.

For the best part of an hour, it looked as though their run would finally come to an end, Tows racking up a commanding lead through tries from Matt Bodily, Jordan Brew and Zac Osbourne, Matt Yuill adding 11 points from the tee.

ONs, however, had opened the scoring on the evening with the first of their three tries through Michaele Bellamy and when Carl Burgess closed the gap with 12 minutes to play, a nervy finish ensued. Alex Crofts dramatically levelled the try count in the 80th minute and Rory Seymour, who kicked 12 points on the evening, held his nerve to send over the match winning conversion.

Victory marked the second trophy lift in as many weeks for ONs. Their 25-12 defat of Buckingham seven days earlier sealed the Oceanic Trophy, man of the match Joe Britton crossing twice, while they were only denied a superb treble by Towcestrians in a narrow 15-12 Lewis Shield final scoreline.
