As the largest ridesharing network in the UK and Europe, BlaBlaCar has a strong track record of providing people with a cost-effective means of getting to their destinations, and drivers a way to share their fuel costs.
Season Ticket Holders come to Franklin's Gardens from many parts of the country, with the Saints also boasting one of the largest travelling supports in the Aviva Premiership.
With the costs of travel increasing each year, the club's link with BlaBlaCar will give supporters the opportunity to reduce both the impact on their wallets and share the excitement of a day getting behind the Saints, whether home or away.
BlaBlaCar allows supporters who are driving to fill their empty seats, while those who do not have a car can look for a ride and contribute towards fuel costs, based on BlaBlaCar's pricing structure.
Passengers enter their journey details to see a list of possible options, but drivers have to offer their journeys, too, in order to fill their seats and provide those travel solutions.
Saints’ chief executive Allan Robson says that this new link can help grow the club’s community of supporters and reduce both transport costs and environmental impact at the same time.
“Following the Saints is a big social event in the lives of many supporters, and we know that many have become life-long friends through a shared love of rugby,” he said. “But we also know that there are supporters who cannot always travel to watch games, either because they do not have transport themselves or because they cannot afford the fuel costs.
“This new link with BlaBlaCar provides a good alternative, giving drivers the chance to fill their empty seats and share the costs, and passengers a lift to and from games, whether to Northampton or throughout the UK. And by having more people travelling in fewer vehicles, we will be helping minimise the environmental impact, too.”

BlaBlaCar is the world’s largest long-distance ridesharing service, and has over 9 million members across 12 European countries. Every month, more than 1 million BlaBlaCar mem-bers share their long distance journeys.
The app and website are engineered to create a secure, trust-based community with full member profiles and even a preference for members to specify how chatty they are, from “Bla” and “BlaBla” to “BlaBlaBla”, hence the name BlaBlaCar.
HOW BLABLACAR WORKS
For drivers, BlaBlaCar saves on the cost of running a car. For every passenger taken on board, a driver makes back a third of the cost of that journey. Drivers do not make a profit when using BlaBlaCar as prices are capped; this means that because drivers are only cover-ing their costs, their insurance is unaffected.
For passengers, travelling with BlaBlaCar is an average of 79% cheaper than an off-peak single rail ticket.
BlaBlaCar members get to choose their travelling companions. Passengers contact drivers of their choice, and in turn, drivers can quickly accept or decline requests. To help members decide, in addition to ratings, BlaBlaCar provides valuable information about each member’s recent activity and experience level. This means you will always be confident and comforta-ble planning a car share.
