Northampton Saints Wheelchair Rugby is delighted to announce a new partnership with Maplefields Academy.
The Corby-based venue has become the new training base for Saints Wheelchair Rugby, with sessions for all levels being held on Wednesday evenings from 6pm until 9pm.
The partnership will support the sustainability of the club as well as delivering benefits to students. School sessions will be held for Maplefields Academy on a weekly basis through the academic year.
“This is an important step for Saints Wheelchair Rugby and one that will support us with our sustainability,” said head coach Jamie Higgins.
“We’ve been aware of the facility at Maplefields Academy for some time and it is ideal for us. It is all on ground floor level so players can arrive and get onto court with ease.
“It is a mutually beneficial partnership and we look forward to delivering sessions to students at the school.”
Maplefields is a special social, emotional and health academy for individuals who have found school a challenge, providing a safe, calm, caring and stimulating learning environment.
Paul Lamb, deputy head of Maplefields Academy, said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Saints Wheelchair Rugby. The collaborative work undertaken over the past few years has afforded our children the opportunity to experience a sport that they may not have had access to without the partnership. We have a tremendous facility here at Maplefields Academy, and it is great that the club will be using it on a regular basis.
“Our students are really going to benefit from the regular coaching sessions that are going to be delivered on site and we are hoping that other specialist settings within our network will also take up the opportunity of the expert coaching on offer. We look forward to the partnership growing from strength to strength in the months ahead.”
