Northampton Saints vs Aviron Bayonnais

Smith hacks threw off the restart to touch. Lineout Bayonne back in their own 22. 

Bayonne send the ball into touch on the restart and Saints have the lineout. 

Bayonne keep coming and push into Saints' 22 with an advantage coming too. 

Free kick Bayonne at the scrum though and they go quickly, working up to halfway. 

Furbank is almost through again on the restart but Saints are pushed back and Smith sends the ball downfield. But they knock the ball on and Saints will have the scrum. 

Litchfield replaces Hutchinson as we restart. 

Augustus and Matavesi break through into Bayonne's 22 but Smith's chip over the top finds Bayonne hands. They boot it downfield to Furbank who runs it back Bayonne's way. 

James gets over the ball at the breakdown and earns Saints the penalty. Smith puts it into touch for a lineout back in Bayonne's half. 

Saints push forwards on the restart but there's forward pass as they look to come wide and Bayonne have the scrum near halfway. 

Moon and Augustus replace Coles and Pearson as we restart. 

Bayonne think they've scored from close range but the TMO intervenes as James gets under the ball to hold it up. Goal line drop out for Saints to restart.

Bayonne puts into Saints' 22 again off the scrum and work up to the five metre line now.

Not straight at the lineout from Saints though and Bayonne will have the scrum. 

Bayonne push up but a solid defensive effort from Saints ends in Furbank pushing Cotet into touch. Lineout Saints.

Advantage coming for Bayonne as they push in Saints' 22 and we eventually come back for it. Dolhagaray puts it back into the corner. 

Penalty Bayonne at the breakdown as Saints fail to roll away and Dolhagaray puts the ball into the corner for a lineout there. 

The away side push into Saints' 22 but there's a knock on there from Bayonne and Saints will have the scrum. 

Saints steal the lineout and come forwards but there's knock on in contact on halfway and Bayonne will have the scrum there. 

James clears off the restart and Bayonne send it back Saints' way. Saints push up to the halfway line but the away side get over the ball and earn the penalty there. Dolhagary sends the ball into touch for a lineout on Saints' 22. 

Change at scrum-half for Saints as James replaces Mitchell there. 

Mayanavanua breaks through and has Smith with him. Saints charge up to Bayonne's 22 and earn a penalty there too. Smith puts it into the corner for a lineout there. 

Smith's touchline conversion is just short but Saints get the ball back instantly on the restart and push into Bayonne's half again quickly. 

Saints turn the ball over off the lineout though and play on just inside Bayonne' half. 

Saints charges forwards off the lineout, with Hutchinson, Furbank and Slieghtholme getting play up to the Bayonne's 22. But there there's a strong counter ruck from Bayonne and they earn the penalty as Saint go in at the side too. Dolhagaray sends the ball to touch for a lineout on halfway. 

Bayonne steal the lineout though and Machenaud clears to touch. Lineout Saints back on halfway. 

Lawes gets over the ball after Saints send the restart back Bayonne's way to earn Saints the penalty and Smith puts it into touch for a lineout on Bayonne's 22.

Penalty Saints off the scrum as Bayonne deliberate knock the ball on. Saints take it quickly and Freeman charges up to the 22 quickly. There Saints push on with another advantage there until we come back for it. Saints take it quickly. 

Huge defensive effort from Saints off the scrum and they get their rewards in the form of a Bayonne knock on. Scrum Saints. 

Saints peel right off the lineout but there's a knock on in contact there and Bayonne have the scrum. 

Bayonne come forwards after Saints send the restart back their way but Saints' defence hustles hard and Sleightholme pushes his opposite man into touch. Lineout Saints.

Penalty Saints at the maul and Smith puts the ball back into the corner for another lineout. 

Saints turn the ball over after sending the ball back Bayonne's way on the restart. Furbank hacks through and though Bayonne get there first, Freeman pushes his opposite man into touch. Lineout Saints. 

Mayanavanua takes the lineout and Saints push forwards again.

Bayonne counterruck off the back of the scrum and send the ball back Saints' way. The home side come forwards upto Bayonne's 22 but there the away side intercept the ball and Machenaud charges clear. But Freeman gets back to make the tackle and Lawes gets over the ball to earn the penalty. Smith puts it into touch for a lineout back in Bayonne's half.

Mitchell clears long from the restart and Bayonne have the lineout back on halfway. 

Freeman breaks through off the lineout and makes it up to the five metre line before he's taken down. Saints keep pushing.

Good pressure from Saints off the scrum and Machenaud clears to touch. Lineout Saints on Bayonne's 22. 

Saints get close but there's a knock on in contact there and Bayonne will have the scrum. 

Smith puts the resulting penalty into the corner and Saints have the lineout there.

Saints send the ball back Bayonne's way on the restart but their defence is resolute and Lawes gets over the ball to earn Saints the penalty on halfway. Smith puts the ball into touch for a lineout back in Bayonne's 22. 

Machenaud clears from the lioneout again and Sleightholme is there to gather it. Saints push forwards before Smith kicks through, finding touch for another Bayonne lineout in their own 22. 

Saints push into Bayonne's half after Machenaud clears from the lineout. There they build a few phases before Mitchell hacks through to space and the ball bobbles into touch. Lineout Bayonne back inside their own 22. 

Penalty Bayonne off the lineout as Saints are found to have deliberately knocked the ball on. Dolhagaray sends the ball to touch but it stays infield. Saints whip the ball wide, where Freeman charges over halfway but his offload finds touch. Lineout Bayonne on halfway. 

Saints come forwards again but another kick through finds Bayonne hands. Machenaud clears to touch for a Saints lineout. 

Saints peel forwards off the lineout, charging into Bayonne's 22. But a crossfield kick finds Bayonne ends and they dot down over the tryline. Goal line drop for Bayonne to restart.

Saints think they've scored through Langdon from close range but the TMO chalks it off for a knock on in the build up. Scrum Bayonne on their own five metre line. 

Penalty Saints at the scrum and Smith puts the ball into the corner for a lineout there. 

Mitchell sends the ball high on the restart and Saints pressure in defence, earning their rewards in a Bayonne knock on. Scrum Saints just inside Bayonne's half. 

Saints push into Bayonne's half from the kick-off, working forwards towards the 22 now.
