Newcastle Falcons vs Northampton Saints

Grayson goes short with the restart and Obonna is there. Hodgson sends it high and Freeman gathers. Saints look to push but a pass heads into the chest of Painter and is picked up but Saints hands. Penalty Falcons and Connon sends it into the corner. 

Short from Connon and Furbank gathers. Saints push up before Taylor boxes. He's charges down but Dingwall gathers and Furbank clears long. Hodgson returns and chases hard. Grayson and Dingwall are back there but Falcons get over the ball and earn the penalty. Connon points to the posts again.

Good defence from Saints pushes Falcons back and eventually the ball comes loose. Taylor gathers and chips over the top but as Falcons collect and come forwards, they're awarded a penalty there. Connon points to the posts. 

A good shove at the scrum for Saints but Falcons manage to keep possession and push into Saints' 22.

Adendorff come forwards off the restart before the ball comes wide to Harrison. Saints push up to the halfway line but knock on the ball on contact there and Falcons will have the scrum. 

Wide from Grayson with the long-range kick though and Falcons will have the 22 drop out. 

Saints push forwards and have an advantage coming as Falcons are found offside. Eventually we come back for it and Grayson points to the posts. 

Ribbans claims the lineout and Adendorff gets things back over halfway. Grayson sends the high ball up and Hodgson send it to touch. Saints take it quickly though and Collins races forwards into Falcons' half quickly. 

Falcons come forwards off the lineout with Fearns getting them close to Saints' 22. But Ludlam gets over the ball there and Grayson sends the resulting penalty to touch for a lineout back in Falcons' half. 

Adendorff replaces Wood as we set the lineout. 

Proctor breaks free from the back of the lineout and gets Saints into Falcons' half. Saints inch forwards but are penalised at the breakdown for holding on and Connon sends it to touch for a lineout in Saints' half. 

Falcons clear the restart and Saints will have the lineout on halfway. 

Coles, Taylor and Dingwall enter the game as we restart, with Ratuniyarawa, James and Hutchinson making way. 

No conversion from Connon out wide and Grayson restarts. 

Falcons come forwards off the lineout but there's a forward pass there and Saints have the scrum. 

Front row changes for Saints; Auterac, Haywood and Painter replace Waller, Matavesi and Hill as we set the lineout.

Penalty Falcons at the scrum and Connon sends it to touch for a lineout in Saints' half. 

Aerial tennis ensues but it's Saints who get over the ball when it comes down to earn the penalty. Grayson sends the penalty straight out though and Falcons choose the scrum option to restart. 

Saints pressure well at the restart and force Schreuder to box it high. Furbank chases back for it and sends it high himself. Falcons decide to run it back and push on the halfway line before Connon sends it high again. 

Chick rounds the back of the scrum and Falcons are pushing on the five metre line now. 

Overthrown from the lineout and Hill knocks it back to Grayson but Falcons gather and earn the scrum as the ball becomes unplayable.

Freeman takes the restart and Saints push forwards before James boxes long. Penny is there and he races around the corner before chipping it over the top. Harrison gathers and pushes forwards but loses the ball in contact. Scrum Falcons. 

Sleightholme is replaces by Collins as we restart. 

Wood is up for the lineout and Saints maul forwards before James boxes high. Falcons knock on and James charges forwards, he chips through for Sleightholme to chase and though Penny gets back first, the Saints winger takes him down. Falcons send it high and Furbank is there. Saints play on.

Solid scrum from Saints but Falcons manage to keep the ball. Connon clears to touch and Saints will have a lineout but back in their own 22. 

Saints knock on though and Falcons will have the scrum. 

Ribbans is up for the lineout and Saints maul forwards. James gets the ball out and Saints start to push but Falcons' defence pushes them back to the 22 line.

Deliberate knock on from Falcons and Grayson sends the resulting penalty into the corner. 

Penalty for Saints as Falcons play the nine and James takes it quickly. Saints are inside Falcons' 22 now and pushing. 

Solid at the scrum and Connon sends it over the top. Furbank has time to clear and aerial tennis ensues from there until Grayson charges a kick down and gathers the ball. Saints play on in Falcons' half now. 

We restart with a Falcons scrum. 

Wood is up for the lineout and Ratuniyarawa pushes forwards. Grayson sends it high and Sleightholme is chasing. But the ball bounces awkwardly and Falcons get there first. We pause the game as there's a bit of a collision in the build up though.

Eventually we come back for the penalty advantage and Connon points to the posts with this one. 

Penalty advantage coming for Falcons as Saints are found offside but the home side play on with the free ball. 

Falcons work into Saints' 22  and keep coming.

Saints defend hard as the clock runs down here but still Falcons push on.

Freeman takes the restart and Saints come forwards hard. Proctor breaks through and races forwards with Sleightholme waiting out wide. The ball falls a little ahead of the winger though and he punts it into touch. Lineout Falcons there.

Brilliant hands off the scrum and Sleightholme charges forwards down the right. He's taken down but he's pinged there too. Connon sends the resulting penalty to touch for a lineout on halfway. 

Scrappy off the lineout but that's down to a Falcons knock on and Saints will have the scrum on halfway. 

Overthrown at the lineout from Saints though and Connon sends it high. Freeman gets back first but Falcons rush defence forces the knock on. Falcons play on but Ludlam gets over the ball and earns Saints the penalty. Grayson sends it to touch for a lineout back in Falcons' half.
